    A Day Wandering Kamari Beach

    August 1, 2016 /

Mention Santorini and most tourists will flock to Fira or Oia for those sublime views of the caldera or to watch a magnificent sunset. Others who are looking for a beach holiday, will head to the Eastern side of the island and will most likely find themselves in Kamari. As I was staying in Imerovigli, I wanted to see what the beaches were like on the other side of the island. So I decided to hop on a bus and spend a day wandering Kamari Beach.  Kamari is a beach resort town that is located about a 15 minute bus ride from Fira. It is also the closest town to…

The Romantic Port of Ammoudi Bay

    July 24, 2016 /

If you are staying in Santorini for more than a couple of days, then one place you should make a visit to is Ammoudi Bay. Ammoudi Bay is a port just below Oia, which has some lovely seafood restaurants with the most gorgeous view. I went during the day for lunch and it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. I feasted on seafood, wine and that impressive view. Restaurants There are a number of restaurants lining the port and all specialising in seafood. I was recommended to come down to Ammoudi for some delectable seafood, by a friend who had been there a couple of months earlier. The area is really…

The Kuranda SkyRail and Scenic Railway

    July 13, 2016 /

A visit to Far North Queensland is not complete without visiting the Kuranda SkyRail and Scenic Railway. Both will take you on a breathtaking journey through the rainforest, where you will be privy to some amazing views, waterfalls and treetop canopies. Not only do you get to see the rainforest in a unique way, there is also the option of visiting the popular village of Kuranda. A short stroll into the township will keep you busy for a couple of hours with rainforest walks, the heritage markets and a hands-on wild life experience.   Typically most people will begin their journey on the Heritage train at either the Cairns or…

Visiting the Great Barrier Reef with Reef Experience

    July 8, 2016 /

Living in Australia, I am fortunate to have access to some amazing and vastly different places that make up this wonderful country. One such place that has been sitting on my bucket list for a long time is visiting the Great Barrier Reef. The heritage listed site is also included as one of the seven natural wonders of the world and can even be seen from outer space. It’s also been immortalised in a Hollywood blockbuster, one that has had those who visit, on a quest in finding ‘Nemo’ and more recent a search for ‘Dory’.  This is one place that is truly spectacular and if you should get the…

    A Week In Palm Cove

    July 3, 2016 /

Palm Cove is one of those beach towns that exudes peace and tranquility. It’s a place where you can go and allow yourself to ‘check-out’ from a fast paced world. If Cairns and Port Douglas are too busy and touristy for your style then you are going to fall in love with Palm Cove. Billed as the ‘ultimate tropical serenity’ it offers it’s visitors world class resorts, spas and is close by to many tourist attractions. I recently spent a week in Palm Cove, Queensland with my extended family to discover what all the buzz is about with this beautiful little beach town. My parents have been frequent visitors to…

Fine Dining at La Maison Santorini

    May 19, 2016 /

Fine dining at La Maison Santorini is an absolute must destination for any ‘foodie’ who is visiting Santorini. Just a 30 minute stroll from Fira, you will find La Maison in Imerovigli. Imerovigli is a peaceful area known for luxury accommodation and fine dining. The restaurant has a rather simplistic fit out but boasts a spectacular view of the caldera.  The view may be impressive but here you will find the food rivals this view. The cuisine at La Maison is modern French with a local Greek Mediterranean influence. The chef who presides over this restaurant is very talented and testament to this is the calibre of dishes on offer.…

Watching the Sunset in Santorini at La Maltese

    May 16, 2016 /

You don’t have to head to one of the restaurants in Oia to watch a magnificent sunset in Santorini. You can also get a fabulous view from La Maltese Restaurant and Bar in Imerovigli. La Maltese is located on the highest point of the island, giving you a unique view of the Caldera and Oia, with the sun slowly going down on the horizon.    I happened upon this place whilst I was actually looking for another venue to sit, have a wine and watch the sunset. I peered into the entrance, it was wonderfully opulent and I thought possibly this may be a bit on the expensive side. I…
