The Romantic Port of Ammoudi Bay
If you are staying in Santorini for more than a couple of days, then one place you should make a visit to is Ammoudi Bay. Ammoudi Bay is a port just below Oia, which has some lovely seafood restaurants with the most gorgeous view. I went during the day for lunch and it couldn’t have been anymore perfect. I feasted on seafood, wine and that impressive view. Restaurants There are a number of restaurants lining the port and all specialising in seafood. I was recommended to come down to Ammoudi for some delectable seafood, by a friend who had been there a couple of months earlier. The area is really…

Fine Dining at La Maison Santorini
Fine dining at La Maison Santorini is an absolute must destination for any ‘foodie’ who is visiting Santorini. Just a 30 minute stroll from Fira, you will find La Maison in Imerovigli. Imerovigli is a peaceful area known for luxury accommodation and fine dining. The restaurant has a rather simplistic fit out but boasts a spectacular view of the caldera. The view may be impressive but here you will find the food rivals this view. The cuisine at La Maison is modern French with a local Greek Mediterranean influence. The chef who presides over this restaurant is very talented and testament to this is the calibre of dishes on offer.…

Watching the Sunset in Santorini at La Maltese
You don’t have to head to one of the restaurants in Oia to watch a magnificent sunset in Santorini. You can also get a fabulous view from La Maltese Restaurant and Bar in Imerovigli. La Maltese is located on the highest point of the island, giving you a unique view of the Caldera and Oia, with the sun slowly going down on the horizon. I happened upon this place whilst I was actually looking for another venue to sit, have a wine and watch the sunset. I peered into the entrance, it was wonderfully opulent and I thought possibly this may be a bit on the expensive side. I…

Experiencing stunning Santorini
Honestly, I don’t know anyone that hasn’t had the idea (or fantasy) of escaping to the Greek Islands. You know how it goes, the carefree sailing the Aegean sea, the beautiful white washed houses lining the cliff tops and the amazing sunsets to take your breath away. Before I had visited the Greek Islands, experiencing stunning Santorini was indeed my fantasy and I often thought would I ever get the chance to visit? So when this dream actually turned into a reality, nothing could have prepared me for when I first caught site of the caldera. I knew it was stunning but physically seeing it with my own eyes had…

Brettos Bar in Athens
In my wanderings around Athens, I came across a cool little bar called Brettos. Most people visiting Athens will end up in the Plaka area, for it’s where you will find many archeological sites, great street dining, shopping and of course Brettos. As I was exploring the streets, I came across Brettos bar in Athens by pure chance, I’m so glad I did. From the street my eyes were immediately drawn inside by the colourful wall of brightly lit bottles. The sign out the front said wine tasting all day, so I checked my watch (it was early) and figured ‘ah it must be 5 o’clock somewhere in the world’, so…

The Historic Neighbourhood of Anafiotika
I love discovering little unexpected places when I’m out and about exploring a city. So whilst I was in Athens, I learned of one such treasure that’s well hidden away. In fact if you walked by you may not even notice what lies at the foot of the Acropolis. So what is it exactly that I’m talking about? I’m talking about the historic neighbourhood of Anafiotika. A little area hidden within Plaka, that will give you a little taste of the Greek Islands. I first came to know about the Anafiotika neighbourhood through my lovely Greek friend Sissy, who lives in Athens. She suggested that when I take a walk…
