    Experience interactive dining at inamo

    May 8, 2015 /

If you are ever visiting London, then put this restaurant on your must do list. This place is unique, innovative and a lot of fun. Welcome to interactive dining at inamo, where you are in control of your whole dining experience. I took my two teenage kids to this restaurant when we were visiting London and it was an absolute winner. Not only is the inamo concept interesting, but it also dishes up the goods on amazing food. The menu is all about Asian fusion – with influences from Japan, China, Thailand and Korea amongst others. The inamo concept Interactive dining at inamo is controlled by you via your table…

    The Captivating Dunnottar Castle

    April 30, 2015 /

When I think of old medieval castles, my mind almost always wanders to somewhere in the English or Scottish countryside. In fact castles have always fascinated me and I put that down to being an Australian. Why I hear you ask? Well, Australia doesn’t have the sort of grand history of kings and queens and magnificent castles of that seen in Europe. So when I visited Scotland, seeing castles was always going to be on my list of must visits. I have family living on the East Coast of Scotland and on my first visit, I was taken to the very captivating Dunnottar Castle. Dunnottar Castle Dunnottar Castle is every…

The Harry Potter Tour at Warner Bros Studio

    April 19, 2015 /

The Harry Potter Tour at Warner Bros Studio is a must for any Harry Potter fan visiting the UK. In fact you don’t even have to be a die hard Potter fan to enjoy the tour. When we (myself and my two teenaged kids) visited London last winter, right on top of the bucket list was to do the Harry Potter Studio Tour. My kids grew up with the Harry Potter books and they eagerly awaited when each movie was to be released. I was pretty much the same! Ever since Hagrid uttered those words “you’re a wizard Harry” in the first movie we all became obsessed Potter fans. Here…

15 Places to travel to when you turn 40

    April 6, 2015 /

Let’s face it there are a gazillion lists out there about travel and particularly so for the Millenials. Cities you must travel to in your 20s, places you must see before you turn 30, those epic backpacking adventures for 20 somethings. Now what if you are about to turn 40 or even 50 and you haven’t been to any of these places. Does this mean that somehow your life has been short-changed or that you’ve missed the boat (terrible pun I know) on travel? Of course not, travel is for all ages, with the only difference being that each generation may have a different perspective on what defines a great…

Taking a road trip to the 12 Apostles

    April 5, 2015 /

The 12 Apostles is one of Australia’s most well known and popular tourist attractions – aside from the harbour bridge and Uluru. The coastline stretches some 30 km and is incredibly stunning, rugged and dramatic. I happen to live about 2 hours away from Port Campbell and I thought it was high time that I take a road trip to the 12 Apostles and witness one of Australia’s natural wonders. It’s strange how I haven’t been down this way since I was around 14 on a school excursion and even though it’s an easy drive down I have never put it on priority. Kind of like how you take something…

A walk through the Salamanca Markets

    March 15, 2015 /

Take a walk through the Salamanca Market and you will enjoy the sights, tastes and sounds of a bustling market in Hobart. Run by the Hobart city council, the Salamanca markets spreads itself right along Salamanca place with some 300 stalls. Stall holders bring to you products from all over Tasmania, so expect to be able to buy fresh food, cheese, art & craft, local wines and other quality local made products. Whilst you take a walk around you will be entertained by the various buskers throughout the market, which creates that feel good fun atmosphere. Once you have walked the length of the market, purchased some goods and listened to…

What to see and do in Hobart

    March 15, 2015 /

Visiting Hobart is like taking a step back to another time, a time when Australia was a penal colony. In fact Hobart is Australia’s second oldest city after Sydney, having been founded in 1804. Built around the harbour of Sullivan’s cove, you will find that many of the original buildings lining the harbour are still standing from that era. If you admire old architecture and a feel of an old world charm or have an interest in convict history, then Hobart is a fabulous place to explore. So what to see and do in Hobart you ask? Well, if you are here for an extended weekend as I was, then all…

The best little cafes in Hobart

    March 10, 2015 /

Looking for the best little cafes in Hobart? Then look no further as I have found three of the best. It’s always that old familiar scene when visiting a city for the first time – wondering around aimlessly – looking to find a great breakfast, a decent coffee and good lunch place. Unless you are in the know (as a local) or have been given a recommendation it may be a little challenge to find that little gem of a cafe. So wonder no more as here are my top picks – Daci & Daci, Next Door and Jackman & McRoss, put them on your list if you are in…

MONA – Prepare for a full assault on the senses

    March 7, 2015 /

I’m putting this right out there now, if you are in Hobart and you don’t visit MONA then you have rocks in your head. When someone says to you (in that higher wisdom voice) “oh you simply have to go to see MONA” with the mere mention of Hobart, then you must obey them! When I visited MONA in Tasmania, I really didn’t know what to expect. MONA stands for Museum of Old and New Art by the way, in case you may have been wondering (don’t worry I wondered that too). I do enjoy art galleries and museums and I have seen a few, some are just awesome and…
