Hilton Sydney Hotel review

14395481

The Hilton Sydney is located right in the middle of Sydney’s CBD and ensures guests of a fine indulgent experience. It may not have uninterrupted views of the harbour but what it does have in spades is the impressive architecture and great entertaining spaces for it’s guests to enjoy.

Within the Hotel you will discover these wonderfully stylish bars: The internationally acclaimed Zeta bar and the heritage listed Marble bar. The Zeta bar is where you will enjoy cocktails made by the resident mixologists who are pushing the art of cocktail making to the next level! You will also find – hopefully – the hidden Marble Bar which will transport you back in time to the elegant 1890s. The Marble bar is a pure unexpected delight. The interior is rich and opulent and one that will have you sporting that opened jaw look of wonder, followed by the words ‘wow’ escaping from your lips. If you love old world charm then the Marble bar is a great place for a quiet Vespa Martini after a big day shopping or site seeing.

For a fine dining experience then there is no need to look any further, as celebrity chef Luke Mangan’s award winning Glass Brasserie is a must experience. The restaurant also features an extraordinary thirteen metre wall of glass that overlooks the equally impressive Queen Victoria Building below. Now if you find that you can’t make it for dinner then you must experience the amazing breakfast on offer, where the Glass brasserie is transformed into a lavish affair fit for a king.

Health, beauty and indulgence is not forgotten either, with the largest hotel gym in Sydney, relax in the Alysium spa and for your beauty needs there is the Paul Haddad hair salon.

My stay with the Hilton Sydney was over three nights which began the moment I encountered the checkin desk, with a warm and friendly welcome.

Having an early morning flight, I had arrived at the Hilton Sydney at ten a.m and was checked into my room swiftly and with the minimum of fuss. I was also given priority checkin which meant that I was able to check in to my room early. This is a wonderful service if you have luggage you want to leave in the room or freshen up rather than waiting until the usual two p.m check in time.

The Room

Hilton Sydney

I stayed in a deluxe King room located on the 23rd floor which overlooked the Town Hall station and the city view of Sydney. The room was of a modern minimalist style with a King bed, no less than seven – yes seven pillows, a divan, writing desk, tea and coffee facilities and a modestly sized ensuite.

To ensure a peaceful and restful nights sleep hit the switch by the bed to activate the motorised blackout blinds, this will guarantee no city lights intrude into the room. If you are an overseas visitor and have forgotten the power adapter, then no need to worry as there is one provided in each room.

Extra touches are the complimentary Peter Thomas Roth toiletries, bath robe, slippers, a good quality hairdryer and a complimentary bottle of red wine. The Hilton Sydney offers around the clock room service and if you require anything then all you need to do is pick up the phone and press the ‘magic’ button – yes there is a button on the phone that says ‘magic’ and your wish is granted! Even if you just want your pillows fluffed … okay that’a little extreme but I’m sure that if you did make that request it would be accommodated.

If you are a little peckish there is a mini bar in the room but be sure that you don’t change your mind as the mini bar is automated and if you pick something up it will immediately charge the item to your room bill.

On my second night I decided to stay in for the night and order room service. I pressed the magic button on the phone placed my order and within 30 minutes there was a knock on the door with the waiter presenting my silver tray with dinner. The best thing about the Hotel’s room service is that the dinner menu is the exact same menu from the Hotels award winning Glass Brasserie restaurant down stairs.

Breakfast is a fine and indulgent affair with an amazing choice and display that will keep you satisfied for hours! Tea and Coffee are the domain of the wait staff, so if you need a refill the staff will be over at the drop of a hat to keep your cup full.

Why stay?

The Hilton Sydney Hotel is a great place to stay if you are on business or for a weekend escape.

If you want and expect service that goes the extra mile then you will love your stay at the Hilton Sydney

The location is perfect for those who enjoy a little retail therapy, with the Queen Victoria building and the Myer Department store located right on the doorstep.

Both Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge are an easy walk, passing both Martin and Angel Place on the way and is generally central to most other attractions.

Conveniently located near the Town Hall station makes the Hilton Sydney an easy hassle free trip directly from the airport.

The only negative I found with the Hilton Sydney is that wifi is not complimentary and is quite expensive at $29 per day. A way around this is to join the HHonors members loyalty program.

Cost

Prices vary and start from $319 per night. The Hilton Sydney offers a best rate guarantee so if you find a cheaper rate they will price match.
